Equestrian NSW Board Appointments

Following the recent resignation of Judy Fasher, who joined the Equestrian Australia Board as Chair, the Equestrian NSW Board has elected Peter Dingwall as President.   Peter was elected to the Equestrian NSW Board at our 2014 Annual General Meeting.  He is an ACT Magistrate and was Registrar of the ACT Supreme Court from 1985-1990. He has been President of ACT Show Jumping Club since 2003, was Chef D’Equipe for the Australian Show Jumping Team in Korea in 2008 and has served on the ACT Rugby Union Judiciary. Peter has extensive experience in running events, including three Australian Show Jumping Championships and is currently Chair of the Equestrian Australian National Show Horse Committee.

In accepting his new role Peter thanked Judy Fasher for her contribution to the success of Equestrian NSW over many years.  “Judy is an icon in our sport.  She was instrumental in securing NSW Institute of Sport funding which helped achieve Olympic gold, has been heavily involved in juniors, coaching and education, sponsored the new constitution and as President guided Equestrian NSW through difficult times in recent years.  We wish Judy well in her challenging new role as Chair of Equestrian Australia” Peter said.

With the departure of Judy Fasher and the resignation of Linda Beneke earlier this year, Equestrian NSW has appointed two new directors to fill casual vacancies until the 2015 Annual General Meeting, which will be held in October later this year.

Fiona Macleod is currently the Strategic Business Manager with Visy Industries and was previously Regional Manager for Goodman Fielder.  Fiona’s core skills are in marketing and communication, along with a sharp focus and involvement in OHS.  She is an accredited FEI Jumping Official and has presided over most of the major Jumping and Eventing competitions in NSW.

Damian O’Connell has a strong business background, having established the highly successful companies Insight Surgical in 2001 and Insight Aesthetics (Princess Skincare) in 2011.  He has a jumping background as a junior, but more recently has taken up eventing with gusto, along with supporting two professional riders.  His remit is to engage with major corporations to build partnerships in support of our juniors right through to our elite athletes.

Please join Peter Dingwall in welcoming Fiona and Damian to the Equestrian NSW Board.
