NSW Flies High at Vaulting Championships

A strong team of 26 NSW Vaulters contested the 18th National Vaulting Championships held at Mallala Equestrian Centre, South Australia in October.

New South Wales Vaulters enjoyed considerable success during the National Championships, winning 10 of the 20 classes on offer and taking home the major National Perpetual Trophies.

Open vaulter, Kayla Brewer from “Equiste Vaulting” competed on Crème Brulee, owned and trained by Robyn Boyle of the Scone Equestrian Centre. Kayla showed top form, winning the title of “Australian Female Champion” and scoring the highest individual marks of both male and female open competitors.

In the Open Female division Ruth Skrzypek was in first position after the Compulsory test.  Hot on Ruth’s heels were McKeira Cumming and Kayla Brewer with only 0.047 points separating them.  The technical test saw positions shift after Kayla gave an outstanding performance to move up to first position, with Sarah Leadbeater giving a polished performance to move into second place.  After the final freestyle round Kayla remained in first place finishing on a score of 7.024, Sarah Leadbeater (SA) second 6.896, McKeira Cumming (Qld) third 6.486, Ruth Skrzypek (NSW) fourth 6.477.

The National Equestrian Centre, with a vibrant and talented new squad under the experienced and creative guidance of senior member Ruth Skrzypek, were the clear winners of the Preliminary Squad class.

Robyn Boyle of Scone Equestrian Centre NSW, made a clean sweep of the horse and lunger awards.  The Boyle Families Oldenburg gelding “Hunterview Sinatra” by Stedinger out of Northern Celeste was crowned “National Official Vaulting horse” and also Best Individual Vaulting Horse with an averaged horse score of 7.8, while Robyn’s second horse Crème Brulee took out the award for Best Associate Horse and Best Squad Horse. Robyn Boyle took out the National trophy for Best Lunger.
